
This trek starts from Dhunche. It is approximately 10 hours drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche and after 2 days climb comes to sacred lake “Gosainkund”. This lake is situated at the height of 4312m. Gosainkund Lake is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations for Hindu and Buddhists as well. It is sacred lakes. It is regarded as the greatest lake among the three main lakes. The other two lakes are Saraswatikund and Bhairabkunda. According to the Hindu legend, Shiva created Gosainkunda when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world. Along this section of trail there is extraordinary views of Himalayas .
