Trekking in Nepal

Nepal is no doubt blessed with the most marvelous and impressive walking country on earth. Only by walking on the ancient foot trails one can gain access to Himalayan giants. Himalayas “ The abode of snow” is the world’s greatest but youngest mountain range and is still increasing its height. Here lies the greatest concentration of the highest mountain range eight out of ten highest peaks, most varies terrain and divers culture and the most spectacular view. Walking is the only way to travel if you really want to see a country, contact with the wild and dramatic landscapes and the fascinating people who live there. Col. Robert started the concept of trekking in late 50’s. When he saw the expedition team: Sherpa working as mountain guide, porters carrying all the lodging and food, he thought that why not the same type of expedition could be organized to show the Himalayas of Nepal. He organized the first commercial trekking to the Everest Base Camp and it became so successful that he registered Mountain Travel in 1960’s. He trained the Sherpas as Sardar, Sherpa as cooks, Sherpa as guide, developed trekking routes, camping equipment, explored camping sites. Finally he settled down in Nepal and died in Nepal. His pigeon firm in Pokhara is a nice collection to visit. He is known as Father of Trekking in Nepal.
