TIBETAN THANKHA

THANKHA means scroll wall paintings of the Buddhist arts.

In Tebet Thankha was introduced around the end of the 7 th century. Guru Padma Sambhava introduced this religious art in the most profound way and it was officially patronised by the King Trisung Dechen during the 8 th century. This great ancient art was preserved, practiced and developed in Tebet for the last twelve hundred years by the various artists, painters and the people as a whole so it can be called the traditional treasure of Tebet. In short we can say Thankha painting isn’t only art but it’s a way of Buddhist life of the roof of the world.

The Tibetans thankha also represents the religious philosophical, psychological energy of “Tantra Yana” for the benefits of all the sufferings, beings of the world.
